چکیده

Hematological and biochemical reference values in sickle cell disease (SCD) are crucial for patient management the evaluation of interventions. This study was conducted at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to establish laboratory ranges among children adults with SCD steady state. Patients were grouped into five age groups according their sex. Aggregate functions used handle repeated measurements within individual level each group. A nonparametric approach smooth curves, a parametric determine normal ranges. Comparison between males females against general population documented. Data from 4422 patients collected 2004–2015 analyzed. The majority (35.41%) aged 5–11 years. There no significant differences (p ≥ 0.05) mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), lymphocytes, basophils, direct bilirubin observed females. Significant < all selected parameters across except neutrophils MCHC adults, as well platelets alkaline phosphatase infants when estimates compared population. state different those varied sex age. established will be helpful monitoring progress SCD.

Steady-state platelet count and complications of sickle cell disease.

The current model of vaso-occlusion in sickle cell disease (SCD) views the process as a result of interaction between the cellular components of blood and the vascular endothelium. The clinical importance of the number/proportion of erythrocytes containing haemoglobin S in people with SCD has been traditionally recognized from the ecacy of exchange blood transfusion in the prevention and treat...

Liver dysfunction in steady state sickle cell disease.

The liver is one of the organs involved in the multiorgan failure that occurs in sickle cell disease, the pathophysiology of liver disease in this condition is complex because of the interrelated multifactorial causes. Liver dysfunction was assessed in both paediatric and adult sickle cell disease patients in the steady state. The transaminases and alkaline phosphatase were analysed by automati...
